Patchwork Dog

Last week I cut out lots of little paper squares followed by lots of little fabric squares. The paper was tacked onto the fabric and then I handstitched them all together and came up with this. A Patchwork dog-- modelled here with M who is wearing the Bat suit he got last Halloween! The dog is a little bit bigger than I imagined but I'm quite happy with him. Maybe if I do another I'll make it a bit smaller though.

Hub wanted to know why I didn't use my sewing machine but to be honest sometimes I find hand stitching quite theraputic.

I was reading Flossie Teacakes Blog and she said she had been buying fabric from Buttonberry.
I went to have a look at their website and that was it I was hooked. On Saturday this arrived through the post

Gorgeous packaging.

The Anticipation

Well worth it

I do have plans for this, doing some applique but I'm going to practice on some other material first as I've never done it before. Tess has been giving me some tips and I think I'm going to be ok with it- well I hope so anyway.

I,m also wanting to knit this for Baby G

with this wool

Looks like it's going to be a busy few weeks....

Hi. Thanks for stopping by my blog.

The pants I made for my baby were made from an existing pair of pants. I have used this tutorial for starters: http://handyprojects.blogspot.com/2005/04/how-to-make-easy-kids-pants.html

Just be careful when cutting the waist area. It should be wide enough to gather. It should be about as wide as the leg. I cut mine on the fold so it's less to sew (I can't remember what the tutorial suggests).

If you have any questions, just email me.

Fantastic doggy - I hand sew most of my stuff but that's because I'm really scared of my sewing machine and still haven't mastered it !
Your Buttonberry fabric looks lovely, it's a fab site isn't it? Enjoy your crafting.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog, I am always so pleased to receive new comments. I would love to work from home too, I have recently left my job, and will have to find another one, boo hiss! Your patchwork dog is great, and it looks as if another little person thinks so too. I am a huge Foo Fighters fan, can't get enough of them! x

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I just adore you patchwork dog! I am a quilter and you can see my needlework on my other blog. I just love this and it would make a great gift. I am forever trying to find lightweight things to mail overseas. Did you use a drawing from a book or something for the shape?

I'm a hand-stitcher but strictly rectangular things - your dog is wonderful! Gorgeous fabrics, think I may have to pop along there myself.

P.s my boys are usually up with the lark. I daren't even whisper this because they've been up at 7ish lately but for a long time A has been a 5.15am boy! They're usually in bed by 7.30 though and sleep well so I shouldn't grumble. I bet they'll be up early now I've mentioned this!
