19th October 2010

Believe it or not this is the first tea cosy I've ever made and when you consider how popular they are at the minute I don't know why I haven't.

Maybe it's because no-one in this house likes tea or maybe it's because I never realised just how quick and easy they are to make . The teapot is on loan from a neighbour if you were wondering.

This one is on it's way to Australia where a lady is going to get a surprise birthday present from her lovely partner.

You know what goes well with tea , or so I've been told anyway ..... cakes.
I said I would do a post about my new cupcake book a while ago and completely forgot . It doesn't help that I've lost nearly all the cake photos I took !!.

The ones above are Blueberry and Polenta and are most definately Hubs favourite , definately a hit at breakfast time . I'd never cooked with polenta before and I have to say it was a really nice surprise adding that little bit extra crunch.
The boys liked the banana and chocolate chip and the double choc ones ( lost photos), no surprise there then.

The ones below are my favourite , Carrot and raisin with a orange flavour soft cheese topping yum yum. These are the easiest and by far the tasties carrot cakes I have ever made or tasted.

Think the oven is calling me ...............

The tea cosy is great Lisa. It must have taken a lot of skill to make and position all those little mice. I hope the lady it is a surprise for isn't scared of them!!! Your cake baking is coming along wonderfully too. I remember when you used to say that you wasn't that good at cooking. Well, you are now!

That is so cute - like the little old lady that lives in a shoe, but it's mice and a teapot.

I love the tea cosy, I've never ever knit one either. I don't like tea and drink coffee over here, but I'm sure I could knit one as a gift, if I could ever find the time... too cute.

That tea cosy is totally adorable. I love it and although I drink gallons of tea I rarely use my teapot. Love the cakes.

Oh how cute! What a fun tea cozy design. It's almost tea season here -- we finally caved and turned on our furnace last night. And the cupcakes! Ohmygosh -- they look fabulous!

I absolutely love that tea cosy - are you going to sell them because I would love to buy one. Thanks for asking about my daughter the other day - she's at Salford Uni, but got robbed in a bar in The Printworks in Manchester. She seems to have recovered OK - its me thats a bit wobbly still! She's always called me Old Worry Guts! xxxxx

What a great tea cosy. Love the idea of the wee mice popping in and out.

I love cakes of any shape and size too. Banana cake last weekend so maybe I'll follow your lead and go for carrot this weekend.
