Only The ............

crumbliest. flakiest chocolate, tastes like chocolate never tasted before. Can you guess what I'm going to show you pictures of today lol.....

Milo is giving you a clue..
Yesterday we had the most gorgeous sunshine , so we decided to go for a walk with my parents. Luckily they only live a couple of miles away from us , not far from the River Wear.

Unfortunately this isn't their house , but it would be nice. Not many people know that Sunderland was once one of the largest shipbuilding towns in the world because of it being on the mouth of the river. Anyway I digress, Flake adverts... the one I remember best is the girl sitting in the middle of a poppy field, a field just like this one

If you enlarge this pic you will see not only the red poppies and yellow rape but also blue linseed and one all white poppy. I don't think I've ever seen a white poppy before

My pics really don't do it justice, the colours were amazing and really made up for me not seeing any bluebell woods. In the background you can see Penshaw Monument, this is one of the oldest monuments in North East England as it was built in 1844.

Milo managed to nettle himself and we searched for a dock leaf to rub on it -- now I don't know if it's just me but when I was younger there were dock leaves everywhere and they were always next to nettles.... we had to search all over for this one but it's magic healing powers worked which pleased Milo no end.
The poppy field itself is not far from a wetlands sanctuary so we saw all types of water fowl too. All in all we had a lovely day .

We had to search for ages for a dock leave yesterday aswell, and me & hubbo commented about exactly the same thing as you 'Where r they all'!

What a beautiful field - there were loads like that round us when we were kids but you just don't see them anymore. Anna nettled herself down at the allotment yesterday, thank goodness for dock leaves!

just lovely, but I'm not sure if I could cope with all those flake subliminal mesages, without actually getting to eat one....

Beautiful pictures - I love red poppies, it's a shame they don't last very long.

We had the same at the weekend with nettles - not a dock leaf in sight!!

take care,

Lovely photo's, I just love fields of wild flowers. I remember when I was younger that my grandad always used to say that dock leaves were always next to nettles, and sure enough there they were. It's the same over here, I actually saw some next to nettles while we were out for a walk on Sunday. It surprised me as I also think they are getting harder to find to.

I love Penshaw, do you ever go to Herrington Park across the road from Penshaw Monument? We love walking in there.

Your pictures are beautiful! I enlarged the photo and the flowers are gorgeous -- I rarely see beautiful fields of just flowers here. Thanks for sharing your walk with us!

Yes, I remember the advert. What a lovely family day out you had. I always love to see a field of poppies, sunflowers or lavender. The word verification today is adders, I hope you didn't spot any amongst the red blooms! x

What a scene! Glorious. Poor Milo, hope he recovered from the stings, horrid. Your walk over the fileds looks so like the one we had at the weekend (only a lot fewer flowers here).

Have a super week.
