Oh, I do so hope that your weekend was as sunny and as happy that ours was, I really do..
For weeks now I've been counting down until 2pm on the 21 st of May, feeling just like a child waiting for Santa Claus to arrive on Christmas Eve.
We got there nice and early ( unfortunately Milo was at school ) and watched whilst the Mayor and other dignitories had their photographs taken and then they declared Phase One of the park open. There was so many people there it was impossible to take any decent photos so most of these were taken early Sunday morning.
Yep, after seven long months we have finally got just a little bit of our park back and what a difference .
Please enlarge the pics above as all this bench carving was done by a chainsaw and it is absolutely awesome. This bench is in an area which has been called the Stumpery.
Like it says scattered about are quite a few stumps from the trees that they had to remove for one reason or another. There are carvings hidden amongst the trees and lots of ferns and woodland plants. Hopefully when everything starts to grow , including fungi on the stumps it will look amazing.
The dragonfly totem pole is carved from what used to be a giant type of conifer, it was completely stripped back and then the chainsaw man went to work.
There is now a decent play area for the little kiddies ( the older kiddies get their's in Phase Two )
I think that Gabe has already brought half of the sand pit home with him.
If I remember rightly this upside down tree face has been christened Dylan - but I could be wrong. He has already recieved several hugs from a certain little one.
Like I say , a happy weekend and in a few days time I'll show you the other part that opened , the Sensory garden..
