Oh The Weather Outside Is Frightful..

Brrr is it freezing where you live because it sure is bloomin cold here, but you know what ... I like it. I like the crunching of the ice beneath my feet and the numbing of my nose and the coming through the front door into warmth and mugs of hot chocolate. Hub was commenting on the fact that we don't normally get this type of weather until January so fingers crossed we might even get a white Christmas -- oh I do hope so.
This is what we have woken up to for the past few days.

Everything white and frozen, it's a pity not many people feed the ducks in the winter as this is when they need it most. It's a good job this lot can ice skate!

We are well under way with our Christmas countdown, the advent calenders are up and Milo is having a Christmas story every night before bed. There really are some great stories out there. I think I get as much a kick out of reading them as he does .Do you have a favourite story?

I have been busy with presents too and can now cross three off my list. Firstly is this little hooded cardigan for my nephew, I started this back in October but have only just got around to finishing it because I found it a bit boring. This is to go with Charlie the blue and green elephant I made a while back.

Then we have wristwarmers to go with the cowl for the MIL.... this has to be the easiest pattern in the world. It only took me about 40 minutes to knit the pair so I can see a lot more of these getting done .

You'll have to excuse the photo, it is so not easy trying to take pictures of your own hands. I got the pattern for these from here
Last but not least is this little fellow, I couldn't have an elephant peeping out of Milos stocking and nothing out of Baby G's so this is for him.

I just love this little guy - he is from a Debbie Bliss pattern and was also lovely to knit. You will probably be seeing a few more of these too.

This morning I went to the post office to pick up a parcel from Maryanne who was my partner in the Christmas Swap... she doesn't have a blog or a Flickr account but she most definately should as her work is amazing... but you know what ... I'm going to save all her goodies for my next post :-)

Oh I nearly forgot - I still haven't had any chocolate , I wonder if I can make it to Christmas Eve?

I like it too.
The things that you have made a so lovely. Do you sell or take orders for knitted jumpers?
I bought both my girls chocolate advent calenders from M&S, Katie keeps forgetting to take her one home, so I had to eat the 1st and 2nd choc's for her!

You are such a tease! Keeping us waiting to see your swap goodies!

I love the things you've made, I'm sure the recipients will love them too.

As for the cold - brrrrrr, freezing here too. I don't mind it other than having to scrape ice off the windscreen in the mornings :-(

What a beautiful post! I love winter weather so much. I dream of having a white Christmas, but that's not too likely here as we are so close to the coast. The little knitted cardigan is so adorable! And the wrist warmers too, you're such a great knitter! x

hello, i've not commented before, but have been reading your blog for a while now. you take such beautiful photos!
i used to be a primary school teacher (recently converted to SAHM too!) and i loved this time of year, reading all the Christmas stories to the children in my class. a couple of my favourites are 'one little angel' by ruth brown - a really beautiful picture book where the interplay between the words and illustrations is just perfect. and 'jesus Christmas party' by nicholas allen - pure genius. if you've not read them, i would recommend both!

So much to comment on :) I love the frosty mornings too - I like them better when I don't need to use the car for work. Scraping the ice and then going careful on the country roads doesn't really fit with my leave at the last minute lifestyle :D The knitting is fab - 40 mins for a pair of wristwarmers?? That's amazing - you're a whiz! Look forward to seeing your swap delights x

Hello Mrs! Loved catching up with your posts. I have been busy getting sorted for Christmas and tomorrow is a sewing day. I have taken it off work just to get it well underway. My favourite story is 'The Grinch that stole Christmas'. I mean the book now, not the film. The rhyming is just so good, we all love it.

I love the hooded cardi. Many thanks to you and Milo for the Christams card. It's great to see a snow man, even a glittery one here in NZ.
Obviously it's not freezig here, but I do miss the hole atmosphere of frost and ice. Stay warm.
