Holiday Week ..Monday To Wednesday

What a lovely week it's been, lots of family time and lots of that glorious yellow thing in the sky, otherwise known as the sun. Luckily Milo's spots really cleared up in time for us to go camping on Monday , I think that was down to loads of calamine cream and bicarb baths ( thank you so much for the suggestions guys ). Neither Gabe or I have showed any spot signs yet but there is still time !!.
So where was I , oh yes , camping. We found a campsite called Park Foot right on the edge of Ullswater.

This was our little home for a few days, can you imagine what it was like opening the tent flaps on a morning and having this as your view

the scenery was fantastic

To our right was the lake

the boats bobbed up and down

and stones were thrown

The boys of all ages absolutely loved it,

It's a good job we took lots of different types of balls

and plenty of tickles...

Now can you see all that green space in front of our tent? Well, a motorhome came and parked right next to us. Don't get me wrong I love motorhomes but their generators are soooooo noisy. Next time we will camp where there are just tents as the constant droning really started to wind me up and started to spoil it.

The sunsets were awesome and the night sky was so clear, I don't think I;ve ever seen so many stars and constellations . But the nights were also absolutely freezing. I ended up sleeping fully clothed in my sleeping bag and can you believe we forgot to pack long sleeved clothes , for any of us !!!!

Gabe didn't have a problem sleeping,

even if it wasn't on his bed... on the first night he must have had an upset tummy and his nappy leaked , let's just say it was a very good job the site had a launderette , YUK.

We will be going camping again, but we will remember , long sleeved clothes , a tin opener , black bags and more blankets . I think camping is all a bit of a learning process and you either love it or loathe it. The boys would do it again in a flash , me , well I'm a bit on the fence at the moment..

I found out later that Lucy from Attic 24 was going to be in near enough the same place on Friday, it's a pity we hadn't stayed longer as it would have been an amazing place for a Bloggy Meet...

P.S. Can anyone tell me why most of my writing on the right hand side -- blog lists , book lists etc have suddenly gone purple ?

What a fab time you all had. Th scenery is just Stunning, but then Ullswater is one of my bestest places! we had a great camp! not....the place was located on a shelf on the cliffs of Dover the views were stunning, so no complaints about the facilities or the site itself.
But Freddie was in tantram mode all weekend! what canyou do with a laddie who has a loud voice and screams for his own way? it is difficult when you are camping, everybody can hear so much.
So Fred willnot be coming next time, Mr N was not a happy bunny.
Fred is having the terrible two's at three.

Hot it was but still needed a heater at night, we did not take the big one but a very small fan heater, worked just as well and takes up less room!

looks like you had a fab time i keep trying to persuade hubby to go camping but no luck yet :-)
looks like you have changed your font etc and there is an option for a colour for your links so it must be the default? if you log into your blog and chose the "Layout" tab and then "fonts and colours" you should see the options on the left hand side and one is "link colour"
hope that helps!

Sounds like you had a lovely time! I'm very puzzled by the big yellow thing in the sky around here at the moment though - doesn't seem very familiar does it? And it's pesky hot too!

Wow! What beautiful scenery! You are a brave soul ... I don't think I'm up for camping yet - bugs, snakes, quiet - I think I'm too much of a city gal ;-)

wow that looks so good! it takes a bit of effort but in the end I think it's worth it to spend some days in the outside...especially for the children it's a good experience...

i am so pleased that you had a great time! Great photos too ... yet again!!! I find myself getting excited to see what your header will be while it is loading!

All of the sites I have visited are purple in your sidebar ... all the rest are the usual colour. My blog is killing me at the moment ... :( ...I am very tired of operation aborted errors!!!!!!

I am so glad you made it camping Lisa. I must say I was a bit concerned what with Milo's spots! What is it with people, plonking right next to you, when there is all that space, all that droning would have driven me around the bend! I always enjoy seeing your photos, you are such a lovely family. x

Sounds fab - we keep thinking about going camping but it is all the packing & unpacking that puts me off. I loved it when I was a child, but then my mum and dad did all the hard work and we ran off to play. Now I'm the mum....
Did you get your blog lay out sorted, it looks fine to me.
Glad to hear that the spots cleared up.

I've always loved camping, living on our boat was similar...
Shame about the motor home.
Jump off the fence, it just takes abit of preparation, then it's great!!

Ohmygosh -- how lucky to be camping in England! I LOVE camping and it looks heavenly there. The picture of Gabe is adorable -- nothing like sleeping out in the fresh air. Sooo cute that he has his little monkey by his side!

What a lovely place to go camping! Last weekend we made our first trip to the family property for camping. We had a great time. Except for the part where some insect type creature apparently bit my ear which turned bright red and got really swollen. Still don't know what it was. Oh, and my step-mom cut her finger, needing stitches. Oh and my little dog tried to attack a big dog. Good times. x
