The past few days have been just awful weather wise, absolutely freezing, very windy, sleet , rain . you name it - just horrible. Last night the clocks went forward an hour and lo and behold today the weather has changed too. Glorious sunshine, blue skies just lovely from the get go.
The boys body clocks were all over the place so because we were up early we took Hub to work and then went for a short drive. I love early morning Sunday driving when there aren't any other cars on the road . I was told about a Bluebell wood not very far away so we went for a look , but although we saw leaves , there were no actual flowers yet - so that's marked in the ' where to go ' diary for a week or so's time..
Then we dropped in to see my parents before going to Sainsbury's for a few odds n sods before coming home for dinner.
G went down for his nap but he was having none of it, Milo and I were in stitches listening to the conversations he was having with his monkey George through the monitor. Eventually I just went and got him up.. There was no way we were staying in on such a gorgeous day so we jumped back in the car and went to the " crocus park ". All the crocus have just about gone now but in their place there are carpets of Celandines mixed with daffodils and more leaves of bluebells yet to come. ( If you enlarge the first pic you can see them )
Milo has never been to this park before and it was only my second time so we were over the moon to find a little playground .
G was haring around like a little maniac ( nothing new there ) shouting GUMP GUMP , he can't say J yet.
Whereas Milo was taking things a bit easier and being adventurous - for him anyway ..
My favourite local park is closing in August for between 12 and 18 months, slap bang in the middle of the school holidays, to do a few million pounds worth of renovations. Hopefully I'll get to see the baby woodpeckers and maybe see the kingfisher again before it closes. I only saw the kingfisher for the first time a few weeks ago and have been on the look out for it ever since. It's the first time I've seen one of these in the wild in the UK. as for the woodpeckers , I discovered their nest last year and was so pleased to see them back there the other day.
I don't know if I've mentioned it or not before but I'm a bit of a birdie . I love watching birds and pointing them out to the boys. Today I saw a treecreeper, which I haven't seen for a few years and I also had a first - I saw a nuthatch , now that , along with the sunny weather really made my day. It almost made up for the fact that this morning I had to unblock the toilet as ' someone ' decided to use half a toilet roll !! Not mentioning any names............
So although this park is about a 30 minute walk or a 10 minute drive away from where we live it's definately a contender to take over from my local one when it closes..
The boys definately had fun.................

A twitcher? Like Bill Oddie? Good for you - I could watch birds for a long time, but I don't like getting too close to them ... there's something about them which freaks me out a bit.
Love pictures, as ever - the clocks changes always messes up the body clocks of my two as well.

We have been out and about this weekend it has been lovely today in the sun!
I must remember the bluebell woods, beautiful photos as always!
Have a lovely week…love Lou xxx
Beautiful pictures - lovely English countryside (I'm a secret twitcher too)!
Out weather is just perfect at this time of the year ... cold (well for us anyway)at night & in the mornings but glorious from around 11 onwards. It's not as dry as our summers so everything is green again and our leaves are just starting to turn. Perfect!
how exciting to see a kingfisher! i'm never as good at naming the birds i see as i wish i was, but i spotted a pair of long tailed tits in our back garden the other day, which was lovely.
thanks for the link to the knitting patterns! have a great week.
how lovely to discover a new park! lovely to hear about the bird spotting too, I can just about recognise a pigeon......
what a lovely day. Oh my fancy closing the park at summer holidays...madness....
I bought my 5 year old son a bird spotting book at the jumble sale the other day. He has been watching out for birds in the garden, yesterday he was sure he saw a goshawk and is watching out for a buzzard!! Think we need a book with garden birds more often seen in suburbia!
Wasn't the lovely sunshine a treat yesterday, such a mood lifter.
Fantastic!! The park, what a great place for adventures and 'twitching'
The sun was shining here today as well fingers crossed for the rest of the week.
Have a lovely one,
Nina x
We are all exhausted with the clock change too - probably not helped by the fact that I made the children stay up late for our "party in the dark"
Brilliant bird-spotting - I'll have to ask you sometime where the kingfisher park is - I'd love to see one!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I didnt know that they were closing it, however I must admit that I have not been there since we got locked in walking the dog. They could have waited until after the summer holidays. Boo Hoo.
Nice pictures of the boys.

Looks like you had a great day!
I think it's fun to look for birds too ;)
We've had a duck couple making nest in a little stream here for years. And it's always exciting to see if they come each year!
It is good that you have found an alternative park for when the other one shuts down. I love looking out for birds but I am not too hot on knowing what they are!
Psssst Peri ... just dropping in to let you know I edited the post to include the recipe for the lemon pudding - just for you. x
Lovely pictures! Lucy x
What fun! That playground looks like it could entertain even the pickiest of toddlers. We've already been through the time change ... fun fun.
your pictures are so pretty! i love all that green grass!
