A Lovely Weekend..

The weekend is always so much better when Hub isn't at work, and it can only get better as the weather improves and we can get out and about and visit more places.
On Saturday we had to go into town , I really dislike going into town on a Saturday as it's just far too busy ,but this was a necessity. Not wanting to waste a day we went for a walk around the park in town. I sometimes wander around the duck pond but today we went right to the back of the park where we were greeted by these daffodils all smiling brightly in the sun

We also found this ' magic ' door ,

which is set right into the rock face.

G was happy trying to climb the little hills, especially as how Hub was up there making the most of the sunshine

He was soon joined by his best mate !

Sunday was my choice seeing that it's Mothers Day . I chose to go to a place called Waldridge Fell, it's a place I've never been to and is only about half an hour drive from where we live. The weather was much different from yesterday , it was bitterly cold and very windy, but that didn't matter I was in my element. I am so definately a " woody " person .

The dead looking bracken was only just starting to show signs of life

and the heather was coming into bud.

The gorse bushes stood out being bright yellow.

Deeper into the wood we went...

I just wanted to follow every little path and peer into all the nooks and crannys , I love distorted branches

G likes little sticks .

As we started walking back to the car I just knew in my heart of hearts we would be coming back here and I can't wait to see it with a little bit more green ..

So I'll say bye for now and in a few days I'll be back with either a) the front of the town park, b) the crafting I've been doing or c ) what's been happening in my back yard!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend and please click on the pics to enlarge them , they look better when they are bigger, plus you'll be able to see Hub waving in the last one.

Enjoying Spring.

Thank you all for waiting patiently during my longer than I intended break.. I think sometimes you just need to take a step back and take time to appreciate what is going on around you rather than whats on the computer screen in front of you...

So what have we been appreciating the past few weeks ? The arrival of Spring and the glorious colours it brings with it. Walking through this park
and seeing its millions of crocus's made my heart sing - it was so beautiful .

Signs of new life everywhere you look

Aren't these gorgeous?

For some reason the words are just not coming today

maybe next time ......

Meet Ups, Presents and a Bargain..

Yesterday I had a lovely day , I had a bloggy meet up with not just one but two lovely ladies. We met at our local museum , which was a good place as not only did it have a cafe where we had cake ( the least said about Milo spitting out the cake back onto the plate that wasn't his the better ) but there was also lots to entertain the kids and seeing as how we had seven between us that was a good thing. Ten points if you can guess who they are ??

Tomorrow or today in Australia is the birthday of a fantastic lady who I'm so pleased to call a very good friend . This is a special birthday so I wanted a special present for her - for weeks I racked my little brain thinking of what I could make for her and this is what I came up with

I have never done any stitching like this before so I'd like to say thank you to Maree for answering all my dumb stitchery questions even though she didn't have a clue what I was doing. The circles are Kaffe Fassett with raw edge applique..

I've also finished a couple of rabbits, first is Sally who loves strawberries

and Patsy who is always game for a laugh , hence the wonky ears

Oh , you want to know who my meet up was with , you thought I'd forgotten didn't you -- well the two lovely ladies were Mrs Locket and Mrs Sarah's House . Hopefully we'll be able to meet up again soon girls .

Did you get your 10 points?

Now I'm off to play with these --- Rowan luxury cotton DK at only £1.39 a ball. How could I resist such a bargain ???

Can You Help ?

I'm sure everyone has heard all about the awful fires in Australia - are you wondering what you can do to help?
Apart from making donations to the Red Cross, there are plenty of things happening across Blogland, including an auction over at Melly & Me and there is a list at Meet Me At Mikes.
One thing that I'm going to do is send a couple of handmade toys to The Toy Society .
I've got an address where people from outside of Australia can send toys to, so if you would like to send something please let me know and I'll give you the address. Even if it's just one little toy it will help.......

Lots Of Randomness

Remember Freya from my little giveaway , well she was the only little one left so I put her in my Etsy shop and now she is on her way to America - my first Etsy sale, I was so pleased I had a smile on my face all day . Thank you so much Sarah.

Right at the end of last month the lovely Gemma from Deravelled gave me this award. Thank you so much Gemma, it,s very much appreciated. In return I'd like to pass this award to everyone who commented on my last post .

I don't get to spend that much one on one time with Milo , so last Sunday when G was asleep and Hub was at work we decided to make some yarn baskets following this tutorial from Lesley.

They did take a couple of days to dry properly . No idea what they will be used for but we had messy fun making them..

Now I have still managed to do some crafting but can't show you much yet I'm afraid . I can show you this cowl though. It's for an aunt of mine who hasn't been too well lately. And I'm saying nothing about the scowl!!!

Is anyone else's Christmas Poinsettia still going strong , I've never had one last this long before?

This is for Emma who commented on my last post , I wanted to answer but you have a ' no reply ' option set . Yes it is Kemps but the library is Kayll Road. Unfortunately they knocked Grindon down a few years ago, it was my childhood library too....

If you haven't yet looked for your house on Google maps Streetview I suggest you do -- mine isn't on there yet but I know a few people who've put in their address and up pops their house on the screen - it's a bit scary!!

Think I'll sign off with another Milo-ism from today.

Milo -- mammy you smell delicious
Me -- thank you baby
Milo -- Just like a Pizza .

Oh well ...
