30th July 2010

This morning I awoke feeling refreshed and rejuvenated after a decent nights sleep and a very nice dream about Hayden Christensen . The details of which I shall keep to myself thank you very much !!

Anyway, after a breakfast of scrambled eggs we just pootled around the house for a few hours , the boys playing and me doing your everyday mundane stuff like washing, tidying up , playing Farmville etc. Then I packed up some sandwiches for lunch and we headed back into town for a Teddy Bears Picnic .

Face painting was a must for Gabe , who for once was surprisingly still. He asked for Spiderman and that's exactly what he got.

Milo decided against it. It's sad that he's starting to think he's too old for things. He doesn't actually say anything but you can see what he's thinking. Brain ticking overtime bless him.

After a spot of lunch , where Nellie and George had a small skirmish over the tuna fish sandwiches , Milo decided to have few minutes rest.

Whereas Gabe ran around a bit

and rolled around a bit . No surprise there then.

Guess who was the exhausted , tired out one at teatime?

I'm really kind of hoping that seeing as how Hub is off work at the weekend he might take the boys out for an hour or so leaving me to start my sewing project. Fingers crossed.

Now I'd like you all to pretend that's it yesterday ok ?
I was supposed to do this post but due to sheer fatigue and exhaustion and the fact that my short term memory is smaller than a fleas at the minute I forgot, so here we go .

Today we didn't really do much as mammy really needed to just have a quiet day and relax so the boys just played with toys and console games and you know what, I didn't really care as they were fairly quiet and happy and it meant I could finish this little lady and recharge my batteries.

And even though they read but never comment I'd like to give a big thank you to Suzanne and Kay from Stitch n Bitch who cheered me up :-)

28th July 2010

Since Milo broke up from school we've watched quite a few films , the new Karate Kid film being amongst them ( I loved it ) . So when I saw that our local leisure centre had a free taster session for Karate this morning I took Milo down, he wasn't interested. Now I was at a total loss at what to do !!

A quick pop into the town library for a spot of drawing..

Round to the town park to see the Walrus ( covered in Seagull and pigeon poop )

Now there is a story about this particular statue, it is said that Lewis Carroll wrote The Walrus after seeing a stuffed walrus in the lobby of Sunderland Museum. The dates make this impossible although he is thought to have written Jabberwocky while staying in nearby Whitburn. The story however was the inspiration for the waterside sculpture of a walrus .

Past the heart tree to the park for a spot of climbing

and a bit of sliding.

Then a spot of hill climbing before a very tired mammy dragged them home for lunch .

27th July 2010

For the past two years during the Summer Holidays we have joined the Summer Reading Challenge at our local library. The challenge this year is themed " Space Hop " and it's quite simple really, just read 6 books during the holiday, easy peasy.

I might have mentioned before but Milo absolutely adores reading . His teachers say his reading level is way above average and he can read just about anything you put in front of him. On a morning he knows he's not allowed out of bed before 7am so if he wakes up he lies in bed and reads . He also gets a story every night before bed , something we've always done since he was a tot.

Gabe also has stories every night and if you read him a story one night he can say it back to you just about word for word the next night. He doesn't read it ( although he does know a few letters) but memorises it - sometimes he astounds me with what he comes out with.

I am so pleased that both the boys show an interest in books as both me and hub love to read .

So why not pop along to your local library and join , you get stickers :-)

Altogether now........

Boooobbb the Builder , can he fix it ?

Booobbb the Builder, yes he can ....

Milo wasn't too sure at first, thought he was a bit big to give Bob a hug .

But he did in the end .

He even coloured in a picture to try and win Gabe a Bob outfit.

Despite all the fighting from the past few days they do love each other really.

Oh, and the broken eggs from the 24th were mine - the shopping bag fell out of the car boot when I opened it !!

25th July 2010

Sometimes they drive me to despair with the fighting and the shouting and the screaming and the crying , but ............ I do love them ...

24th July 2010

Hands up if you remember this post from last year and the post from the year before that?

Well I'm sorry to disappoint but there won't be any aeroplane shots from this year either.

The weather is fine and the planes did fly but we didn't go today and won't be going tomorrow either.

Hub is at work all weekend and there is just no way I could take the boys on my own with crowds that big .

The fact that Gabe doesn't walk anywhere but runs and jumps doesn't help either.

Instead we went to our little part of the beach and looked down the coast to where the planes were but they were just like dots in the distance .

Oh well maybe next year - no use crying over broken eggs!!

23rd July 2010

School officially broke up at 2.30pm this afternoon.

Uniform got ceremoniously dumped on the floor !!

All stripped off ready for the " summer haircut ".

Wheee off it goes .

Makes those gorgeous eyes stand out more don't you think ?

Then off down the field to play ball.

Now I know most people are taking a bit of a hiatus over the holidays and you probably think I'm going to say I'm going to join them don't you ? Duh , wrong answer chuckle.

I want to record this summer , every last drop of it so I'm going to try and post every day . It might just be a photo or it might be a proper blog post - well an attempt at one every day at least.

This is Gabes last summer before he starts school and mine before I start my training so we are going to have some fun fun FUN ...........

See you tomorrow ..
