Catch Up.

Well, didn't those Summer holidays just fly by , all seven and a half weeks of them. I would like to think that the boys had fun and enjoyed all their days out here and there..... I know I did.
I can't believe that it's nearly Autumn, I can't say it is yet because I am just not ready for Summer to go - I've enjoyed the sun and the light , watching the boys run around every day in shorts and a t -shirt. Gabe was so not happy the other day when I had to put jeans on him, he just kept pulling at them and saying " off, off , no like jeans " ,,, can't say I blame him to be honest. The weather is definately changing , it's chillier, and walking to school in the mornings there is definately a nip in the air ..... nope I'm so not ready for it.

At the beginning of the holidays I said I was going to do Milo a blanket and try to get it finished before the school started again...... let's just say it didn't happen . I did try but because it was a hot/humid few weeks I just wasn't capable of sitting with a huge woolly blanket on my knee, it is getting there though - honestly.

I did manage to get some other bits and pieces done , jeez I've just looked back at previous posts and I haven't shown you any crafty bits since July -- wow. Think I'd better show you what I've been up to don't you...

When I was doing Milo's ripple Gabe kept pointing to the lime green colour and saying it was his -- so he got a monster. The little one fits inside the big ones front pocket.

I made Patsy for a swap on Ravelry .

I made a few things for my Etsy shop and they'll be going in over the next few days when I take some decent photos of them.

This is Norbert with his fishing rod,

and this is Lily,

Millie,

and Tilly.

Now Tilly was a bit of a challenge as she is slightly bigger than all the other bunnies . She is 15" tall and is made entirely of Rowan Alpaca soft which makes her so soft and squishy you wouldn't believe.
I have made a few other bits and pieces too but they are Christmas based so I'll be showing them shortly.

What else have I been up to , errrm..... playing lots of Farmville on Facebook so if there is anyone out there who hasn't already become my neighbour -- then why not :-).

I had a tooth out last week, it broke whilst I was eating a sandwich and the dentist whipped it straight out. Now I've just got ulcers all over the roof of my mouth which hurt like crazy and it's really painful to eat or even drink anything -- good for the diet though I suppose !!!

All the good American shows have started again , so I'm watching Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, 90210, America's Next Top Model , NCIS La and I'm waiting for Eastwick which premieres tomorrow , oh and The Mentalist .... so many .

Well I think maybe I've prattled on enough now so I'm going to leave you with a song from Glee which I just can't get out of my head , it's originally by Journey ( just in case you were wondering )

I couldn't get it to upload but please go watch it --- it'll leave you smiling -- ( if anyone can explain to me how to upload a video from youtube I'd be grateful )

Amsterdam ...... Part 3

Unfortunately our time in Amsterdam was over all too quickly and we were sitting on the bus heading back to the boat , there were still a few photo opportunities though.

can you see the windmill in the distance ?

A double decker train... not something I've ever seen before.

And a self portrait by Hub.

Leaving Amsterdam I was quite surprised to see all these beach huts,

as for some reason I never thought of it as being a ' beachy' place

but according to Hub some of the best kite surfers in the world come from the Netherlands.

Back on deck , there was entertainment for the young ones, Milo helped out Magician Mike

but I think Gabe liked the disco the best

he loves a bit of a boogie..

After such a long day we were all a bit pooped so it was a bit of an early night, for 3 of us it was anyway.

I was up bright and early the next day so I decided to go and watch the sunrise and look for dolphins which I was told you quite often see as you are heading up the English coast.

I didn't get to see any dolphins ( which was a pity ) but the sunrise was just amazing , well worth being on deck at 6am for.

If I showed you all the pics I took I think I might overload your computer :-)

All in all it was a great spontaneous trip and fingers crossed we'll do it again. Amsterdam is definately a place that needs to be explored more .

Amsterdam ...... Part 2

When I was looking through all my Amsterdam photos I realised that I didn't have nearly as many of the Red Light District as I thought I had which is a pity as this was one of the nicest places architecture wise that we managed to see in such a short time . Bearing in mind that we were there on a lunch time there were still "ladies working " but not nearly as many as I would imagine there to be on a night.
We were told that the Amsterdam officials are trying hard to improve the image of the area and were giving empty spaces to young designers to sell their designs and you could really tell that they were making a difference.

As for saying this is the city of bikes - oh they are so right . Apparantly the dutch have another meaning for the word ' recycling'..... for example .... you bike to work or wherever and then when you come back to pick up your bike if it isn't there you just take another one .... simple as that . We saw a bike park where there were literally thousands of bikes parked over 3 levels !

Some bikes are more distinguishable than others . This one had a wooden box on the front with seats for the kiddies to sit -- wouldn't mind one of those myself ..

This was just a tiny bike park!!

We saw a few street artists but this guy was by far the best , when we tried to take his photo the first time he cleverly hid his face with his trident and moved his fingers in a ' pay me first ' motion, so when Milo took a few euros across we were allowed to take his picture. You'll get a better look if you enlarge the pic, in fact if you enlarge most of the pics you'll be able to see things better.

I think I'll leave my last few photos for the final part of the trilogy...... hope you are all having a lovely weekend.
